Zoe Washington isn’t sure what to write. What does a girl say to the father she’s never met, hadn’t heard from until his letter arrived on her twelfth birthday, and who’s been in prison for a terrible crime? A crime he says he never committed. Could Marcus really be innocent? Zoe is determined to uncover the truth.
Book Group Discussion and Writing Letters to People in Prison
April 15th, 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM Online
People of all ages are welcome!
Please join us as we discuss From the Desk of Zoe Washington. We will think about what Zoe was feeling and thinking, and what she learned. We will also talk about your ideas – what do you think about Zoe, her mother, grandmother and father? What questions does the book make you ask about the criminal justice system and prisons? We will send the questions we’ll use to get started beforehand.
Then, just like Zoe did, we will write to people who are currently in prison. We will start by reviewing the guidelines we need to follow to make sure the letters will get to them. Then we will share ideas for you might want to write about. Names and addresses will also be sent ahead of time. To register: https://tinyurl.com/p3ad7feb
